MONTGOMERY – Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has announced that a Pinson man’s conviction for the murder of a Blount County couple has been upheld by the Court of Criminal Appeals. Paul Mason Trull, 20, of Pinson was tried and convicted in 2015 for the murders of Gary Hazelrig and Breann Sherrer.
According to the Attorney General, Trull – along with accomplices Lane Bosner and Cody Dooley – entered the home of Hazelrig in Sep. 14, 2015 and robbed the residence of guns, cell phones, cash, narcotics, household items and a four wheeler.
Hazelrig and Sherrer were shot and killed as the robbery took place.
After pleading guilty to two counts of intentional murder, Dooley testified against Trull and Bosner. He received two 50-year sentences.
Bosner received two sentences of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole after being convicted for capital murder.
When he was tried, Trull was sentenced to 75 years but appealed to have his conviction reversed. However, the court upheld the conviction after Marshall’s Criminal Appeals Section argued against Trull’s appeal.
