From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE –Police in Trussville are investigating an alleged assault at Hewitt-Trussville High School on Wednesday, according to Chief Jeff Bridges.
A video circulating on social media shows a female student walking down the hallway at HTHS and approaching a second female student at her locker. The video shows the first female grabbing the victim’s hair from behind and throwing her to the floor before she appears to be pummeling her with punches and dragging her across the floor by her hair.
Several students witnessed the altercation as a third student videoed the incident.
“Our officers have seen the video,” Bridges said. “The guardian of the victim has expressed to us that he intends to file charges.”
Due to the fact that they are juveniles, the names of the students involved have not been released.
Bridges said the investigative file will be forwarded to family court with a recommendation of assault charges in the third degree, which is assault with intent to cause harm.
Questions regarding any disciplinary actions taken by the school were emailed to the superintendent’s office, but no response was received prior to publishing. The story will be updated when and if a statement is received from TCS.
