BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place earlier today at the 1300 block of Bessemer Road in Birmingham.
The victim was a black male that has not yet been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
At around 5:17 p.m. this morning, police from the west precinct responded to a call of two men fighting and a stabbing at Bessemer Road. When they arrived at the scene, they found a victim with what appeared to be a stab wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue were called to the scene where the victim was pronounced dead.
Police were able to detain a suspect that was later brought to the Birmingham Police Administration Building for investigation. The suspect’s identification has not been released yet. He remains at the Birmingham City Jail pending formal charges.
