BIRMINGHAM — Violence continued in the Ensley neighborhood as two men were shot early this morning while renovating a house, according to Lt. Peter Wiliston of the Birmingham Police Department. This comes after a young man was shot in the same neighborhood and died at UAB Hospital yesterday.
At about 2:24 a.m. on March 20, police responded to a report of two people shot at 45th Street in Ensley. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Remus Kevin Scalf, 46, of Docena, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was taken to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The second victim’s name has not been released yet.
Police learned that the victims were renovating the home when they were shot. Police have not identified any suspects and do not know if there was one or more than one shooters.
