TRUSSVILLE — Dancers Against Cancer held a gala at the Trussville Civic Center in February to raise funds supporting patients with cancer and raise awareness about the disease.
This family-friendly event provided dinner, silent auction and a dance showcase by local youth. The event raised $10,000, and all proceeds were donated to UAB Neuro-Oncology and the national Dancers Against Cancer organization.
“Dancers Against Cancer is a national organization that provides financial assistance to those in need in the dance community,” said Emily Lombardo, a member from Trussville. “UAB Neuro Oncology is committed to improve treatment options for brain cancer patients.”
Lombardo said that each dancer in the showcase performed a dance to honor someone who has fought cancer or currently has it.
The ‘crowd favorite’ was awarded to Sara Kate Lombardo, pictured below, who performed a lyrical dance to Kesha’s song Praying.
