From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
Today, the Alabama Department of Transportation announced that it has reopened I-20/59 Southbound at the I-65 interchange after emergency repairs forced it to shut down.
The road was shut down on April 8 when it was seen that a construction project would pose potential danger to travelers. Emergency repairs began but the contractor was fined by $500,000 a day by ALDOT during the closure.
“We are glad to announce this opening and we thank motorists for their patience during this construction”, said DeJarvis Leonard, who is the East Central Region Engineer.
