Two-vehicle crash in Clay County leaves pair from Georgia dead

CLAY COUNTY — A two-vehicle accident 10 miles outside of Ashland resulted in the deaths of two people from Georgia, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The accident happened on Alabama Highway 9 at the 173 mile marker. Robert Paul Herriott, 75, and his passenger, Mary Lou Herriott, 73 – both of Carrollton, Georgia – were killed when the vehicle they were traveling in was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado.
The two were pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the Silverado, identified as Arthur Ray Odem, was transported to a hospital with injuries.
Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
