GADSDEN –The nightmare of 2017 is in the rearview mirror. The Hewitt-Trussville Huskies are back in the playoffs.
Despite an 18-6 record last season, the Huskies missed out on a chance to defend their 2016 state title.
With a 2-2 area record this season, the playoff picture was fuzzy. But the Huskies headed to Gadsden, claimed a 4-1 victory, and slapped the monkey off their back.
They are now 3-2 in area play with Gadsden City coming to town on Thursday.
Carson Skipper took the mound and struck out 13 on the night, giving up only 3 hits. He helped himself at the plate with with an RBI triple. Skipper is now over the century mark for strike outs this season.
Caden Kirk picked up a pair of doubles while Ed Johnson also doubled and Jacob Bishop added an RBI.
