BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the case of a 57-year-old woman who was found dead in a Birmingham hotel in March. At the time it had been deemed an unclassified death but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office ruled it a homicide today.
On March 17, officers from the East Precinct responded to a report of an unresponsive woman in a room that was not being rented at America’s Best Hotel on Messer-Airport Highway. Medics were called to the scene after she was discovered.

Minnie Gray Young, a 57-year-old black female, was identified as the victim. No suspects have been determined at this time.
