BIRMINGHAM — With weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will close ramps to continue construction projects at the I-59/20 and I-65 interchange.
On April 23 and 26, the ramp on I-59/20 southbound to I-65 northbound at 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. to set girders across the roadway. ALDOT advises that I-59/20 westbound traffic take the Arkadelphia Road Exit, get on I-59/20 northbound, and take the I-65 southbound Exit. Message boards will be in place at the detour.
ALDOT stated that law enforcement officers will be required at the closures.
“A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this construction operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.”
