BIRMINGHAM — A missing person case first reported on April 9 is now a homicide case after the victim was discovered in the trunk of his car, according to Lt. Pete Wiliston of the Birmingham Police Department.
On April 27, an officer from the West Precinct responded to a report of a suspicious car 10 block of Pike Road. He was shown the vehicle where he checked the tag and found that it belonged to the victim. Afterwards the victim, identified as Michael Steven Matthew, 47, of Birmingham, was discovered in the trunk.
Matthew had been reported missing in early April.
There are currently no suspects in custody.
