GULF SHORES –The Hewitt-Trussville Men’s Track and Field team sent two medalists to the award stand while posting 18 All-State performances while finishing 6th in the AHSAA State Championships on Saturday. The championship event took place over three days in Gulf Shores.
Jake Diggs (Sr) and Stone Shelnutt (Jr.) both took bronze medals in the 400 meter dash and long jump, respectively.
All-State recognition went to HTHS athletes for the following 18 performances.
4 x 400 Relay Team: 8th place; Ephraim Rolingson (Fr), Nick Popwell (Sr), Christian Nichols (Jr), Jake Diggs (Sr)
4 x 800 Relay Team: 7th Place; Thomas Wolfe (Sr), Christian Nichols (Jr), Aaron Himes (Fr), Josh Jenkins (Sr)
1600 Meter: Thomas Wolfe (Sr) – 6th place, Josh Jenkins (Sr) – 8th place
3200 Meter: Thomas Wolfe (Sr) – 6th place
300 Hurdles: Stone Shelnutt (Jr) – 5th place, Zack McManus (Sr) – 7th place
Long Jump: Zack McManus (Sr) – 4th place, Julian Collins (Fr) – 7th place
Pole Vault: Stone Shelnutt (Jr) – 4th place
Discus: Gaines Myrick (Sr) – 6th place
Shot Put: Gaines Myrick (Sr) – 7th place
