AUBURN –A 24-year-old Auburn man has been charged with the rape of an 18-year-old woman that police say he met at a North College Street bar.
According to a statement from the Auburn Police Department, on Saturday, officers arrested Nicholas Wyatt Augustine, age 24, from Auburn, on warrants charging him rape first degree and sodomy first degree.
On Saturday, at about 4 a.m., Auburn Police responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred at a residence in the 300 block of Moore Avenue in Auburn. Officers met with the 18-year-old female victim who identified Augustine as the person responsible for forcibly sexually assaulting her.
The two met earlier, through an acquaintance, at a bar in the 100 block of North College Street. The victim reports that she was invited to Augustine’s residence where he later sexually assaulted her.
The victim fled the residence immediately following the assault and notified police, resulting in Augustine being located and taken into custody.
Augustine was transported to the Lee County Jail where he was given a $125,000.00 bond.
