TRUSSVILLE – In March of 2009, Scott Myers became only the third Executive Director in the history of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame (ASHoF). Myers was the featured speaker at the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon on Thursday, May 17.
The luncheon was sponsored by Wilbur’s Air-Conditioning, Heating and Plumbing and was held at the Trussville Civic Center, located at 5381 Trussville-Clay Road in Trussville.
A 1985 graduate of Hewitt-Trussville High School, Myers said, “It’s good to be back with so many great folks I knew growing up.”
He shared memories of his football days at HTHS and also some highlights of the ASHoF induction banquet held last month during which eight former athletes were inducted. He also added that, of ESPN’s top 100 athletes, 14 of them hail from the state of Alabama. “We have a great heritage here in Alabama,” said Myers, “and we should be proud of it.”
The Chamber also recognized its May Customer Service Award recipient.
The nominator had this to say: “I think this company is worthy of a nomination for your customer service award, simply because this business is breaking the stereotype that comes with it. I’m talking about the staff at the McDonald’s on Chalkville Road—specifically, the morning crew. If you’ve been through there lately, they have really taken on the challenge of being courteous, professional, and efficient. I know it’s a chain, but go through there some time in the morning and you’ll see what I’m talking about. You can just tell the owners are trying to up their game and are doing a great job, and I just thought they deserved some recognition.” On-hand to accept the award on behalf of the staff was Mr. Ray Williams, their Area Supervisor.
