TRUSSVILLE- In the Birmingham All-Region softball team selection, Hewitt-Trussville represented with four First Team selections, one Honorable Mention, and Coach of the Year.
Pitcher Molly Cobb, outfielder Tate Moseley, designated hitter Crystal Maze, and utility player Hanna Borden all were selected First Team.
Molly Cobb finished the season with a 17-5 record with 98 strikeouts and 15 shutouts. She also finished with a 2.27 earned run average.
Tate Moseley posted a .416 batting average with 11 home runs and 45 runs batted in.
Crystal Maze finished with region-high 28 doubles and 73 hits.
Hannah Borden batted .463 with 18 home runs and 75 runs batted in.
Hayden Neugent was selected as an Honorable Mention pitcher.
First year head coach Taylor Burt was selected as Coach of the Year. The Huskies finished the season with a 45-11 record and captured the 7A area 7 championship along the way.
Coach Burt gave praise to her players for her winning coach of the year.
“Those girls were the heart of the lineup. When you have girls that have the drive that they’ve got, my biggest thing was making sure I didn’t over-coach them. . .They made my job easy,” Burt said.
She credited that each girl was deserving and that the expectations should be high going into next season.
“Coming off a season like this one can be a blessing and a curse, but the team sees what we can do and I’m excited what the future holds for us,” she said.
