TRUSSVILLE- Opening weekend for high school football in the area just got a little more exciting.
ESPN is hosting two local teams in its annual GEICO ESPN High School Kickoff, which will be played at the Hoover Met on Saturday Aug. 25 with Pinson Valley competing against Hoover at 11 a.m and Hewitt-Trussville facing Cedar Grove (Ga.) set for kickoff at 2:30 p.m.
Both games are big time match-ups with some of the top tier teams in the state and will showcase some local talent that the area has to offer.
The Pinson Valley vs. Hoover match-up is a clash between the 6A and the 7A champions from last season with both teams looking for a chance at back-to-back titles.
Pinson Valley quarterback and Auburn commit Bo Nix, who has not lost a game as a starter for the Indians, leads the charge as the number one dual-threat quarterback in the nation.
The Hewitt-Trussville vs. Cedar Grove (Ga.) matchup shows off some big names as well.
Hewitt-Trussville quarterback Paul Tyson, offensive lineman Pierce Quick, and 2020 commit Dazalin Worsham are all committed to the University of Alabama while receiver Ja’Varrius Johnson is committed to Auburn.
