BIRMINGHAM –A Birmingham police lieutenant has been placed on administrative leave after being charged with first degree rape in Morris.
A warrant for first degree rape was issued for BPD Lieutenant Peter Williston after an investigation by the Morris police department, according to WIAT.
Chief Mike Nazarchyk of Morris said that on May 31 a female reported that a male relative had sexually abused her from 2008 until 2011 when the victim was a 14-year-old.
Nazarchyk said Williston was identified as the alleged offender. Following an investigation, Morris police turned their evidence over to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office and a warrant for first degree rape was issued.
“The Birmingham Police Department recently learned that a felony warrant was obtained against Birmingham Police Lieutenant Peter Williston,” Sergeant Johnny Williams said in a statement. “After learning of the allegations on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, Lieutenant Williston was immediately placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The incident is under investigation by the Morris Police Department.”
