BIRMINGHAM — Parents will be able to find a little financial relief this summer as cities across Alabama participate in the back to school tax free holiday.
On Friday, July 20, the City of Trussville, along with surrounding municipalities, will be participating in the 13th annual back-to-school tax free holiday providing shoppers a savings and an opportunity to purchase school supplies, computers and clothing free of state sales tax.
During a March meeting, the Trussville City Council approved a resolution (Res. 2018-012) granting the ‘Back to School’ sales tax holiday to begin Friday, July 20 until Sunday, July 22, 2018.
In addition to Trussville, Argo, Center Point, Clay, Pinson and Springville cities also approved similar ordinances/resolutions and notified the state their participation in the annual sales tax holiday.
Exemptions apply to purchases of clothing ($100 or less per item), computers (single purchase up to $750), school supplies, art supplies or school instructional materials ($50 or less per item) and books ($30 or less per item).
