ODENVILLE — Lipscomb Police Chief Brian Scott Martin was arrested on Friday and faces two drug-related charges.
Martin, an Odenville resident, was arrested by Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) and taken to the Odenville Police Department to be interviewed.
The ALEA Major Crimes, along with the assistance of ALEA Narcotics, executed a search at Martin’s residence on July 27, which revealed a quantity of marijuana and a bong located underneath the master bedroom sink. In addition to the search inside the residence of Martin, ALEA conducted a search of his patrol car located in front of his residence. The search revealed a quantity of marijuana along with a bong located under the gun safe in the rear of the vehicle in an unmarked evidence bag.
During questioning and after recanting his statement, Martin told authorities that he had knowledge of the marijuana inside his residence, but denied any knowledge of the marijuana and drug paraphernalia recovered from his patrol vehicle.
Martin was booked into the St. Clair County Jail in Pell City at 12:30 p.m. and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree. He was later released after posting a $1,500 bond.
Martin did not care to comment.
Lipscomb Mayor, Brenda Renz, said that she did not have a comment at this time.
