TRUSSVILLE — The upcoming “Smokin’ and Stokin'” bar-b-que festival is slated for September 1 in the parking lot of Hall Motor Sports and will feature a variety of activities for the public to take part in.
The festival will have a competition where teams can enter to win first, second or third places in categories of chicken and ribs. The grand champion will walk away with a $1,000 prize with the reserve champion winning $500. Teams can register to win at trussvillerotaryevents.com.
Other activities will be a corn hole tournament from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. along with live music. There will be a kids area for face painting and balloon twister as well as food trucks and vendors for Full Moon Bar-Be-Que, Pops Cool Ice and Slag Heap Brewery.
There will also be a big-screen TV for Auburn and Alabama fans to watch their favorite team play.
“Smokin’ and Stokin'” is a fundraising event that gathers money for the Trusville Rotary Daybreak Club’s projects such as scholarships for local students and sponsorship of Smile-a-Mile, Dr. Seuss’s Birthday project for the elementary school and the Paws for a Cause Gala among others.
The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the parking lot of Hall Motor Sports located at 6351 Chalkville Road South. Parking will be available at First Baptist Church Trussville.
