BIRMINGHAM – One person was killed and another injured in an early morning car crash that occurred off Highway 31 near Brookwood Hospital .
According to AL.com the accident occurred around 2:30 AM Saturday, August 12, on U.S. Highway 31 northbound when a motorist struck another vehicle and then veered off the roadway into a ravine where it caught fire.
The victim, who was pronounce dead on the scene, is believed to be male. The motorist in the other vehicle was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both side of U.S. Highway 31 were shut down due to the crash for nearly 6 hours. The crash remains under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers.
