BIRMINGHAM — A 13-year-old boy was tased by a Birmingham Police officer before he was found to be carrying a gun, reports CBS 42.
On Wednesday morning, the boy was walking with a 15-year-old at the 6600 block of Ave M in Ensley. Police were called to the area on a report of someone with a gun.
The boys were ordered to stop but the 13-year-old is said to have reached for his pocket. An officer then stunned him with a taser. Afterwards, police discovered a .38 revolver in the boy’s pocket.
The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital after being stunned. He was later found to be a runway from the Department of Human Resources from Woodstock and will be handled by the juvenile court system.
