BIRMINGHAM –An investigation into a homicide is underway after police responded to shots fired in west Birmingham and found a man dead in a vehicle on Saturday evening.
Police Sgt. Johnny Williams said the incident occurred in the 1400 block of Pike Road. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of family.
“At approximately 6 p.m., officers from the West Precinct responded to the incident location on a report of shots fired and an accident,” Williams said. “Officers arrived and located the victim inside a vehicle unresponsive. The coroner along with Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.”
Williams said officers learned that shots were fired in the area by unknown persons shortly before the victim wrecked the car.
“Investigators have limited information in this case,” Williams said.
