BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department has reported that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
The incident occurred on Saturday August 18, 2018 in the 1400 block of Pike Road when officers from the West Precinct reported an incident where shots were fired and an accident.
At approximately 6 p.m., officers arrived and located a victim, whose identity will be released pending confirmation of his identity and notification of his family, in a vehicle who was unresponsive.
The coroner, along with the Birmingham Fire and Rescue, arrived and pronounced the victim dead on the scene.
Officers have learned that the shots were fired in the area by unknown persons shortly before the victim wrecked the car.
Investigators have limited information in this case.
