From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — Trussville Fire and Rescue as well as Center Point Fire at Alabama State Troopers are working a four vehicle crash on Interstate 59 southbound under the Deerfoot Parkway overpass. Southbound lanes were closed while first responders worked the scene of the accident.
At least two people are being transported to area hospitals. One is believed to be critical.
The crash occurred before 9 a.m.
“Based on the information I have, I would guess that at least one of the victims has critical injuries,” Trussville Fire Chief Tim Shotts said. “We’re transporting one victim and Center Point is transporting the other.”
Traffic is being diverted to Deerfoot Parkway.
Trussville Police Lt. Phil Dillon said the state troopers were working the wreck and urged motorists to use caution and be patient as additional traffic is diverted to Deerfoot and U.S. Highway 11.
