To whom much is given: Faith Mortgage holds food drive for those in need

By Shaun Szkolnik for the Tribune

TRUSSVILLE – Although the weather might indicate otherwise fall is upon us once again and traditionally this is the season when we reflect on the year past and celebrate the bounty it had in store for us.  We do, however, more than celebrate; we also give thanks.  We give thanks because the provisions of bounty can be inexplicable.  Plans go awry.  Mistakes are made.  Misfortunes happen.  We give thanks because, while we may work very hard for what we have, ultimately, we know that what we have is a gift.

One of the most useful ways to give thanks is to share some of our bounty with those that are less fortunate.  That, however, is sometimes easier said than done.  Needs must be identified.  Resources must be coordinated.  Donations must be distributed.  Fortunately, for those that want to give, Faith Mortgage is ready to help.

For the entire months of October and November, during business hours, Faith Mortgage is accepting food donations that will, at the end of the drive, be delivered to the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama.

Molly Vineyard, who put the food drive together, explained, “We’re Faith Mortgage and like we all learned growing up, faith without works is dead.  So, we felt like we needed to give back to the community and we want to be known for what we do for people and not just what we do for a living. We want to do what we can, as a company, to give back to our community.”

Pam Kennedy, another member of the Faith Mortgage team, added, “With the holidays coming up it is always a time of need for so many people.  So, we thought that if we extended the drive until the end of November it could help meet the needs of the Christmas season as well.”
