U.S. SOUTHERN BORDER — Officials with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection have advised that the border is being hardened in anticipation of a migrant caravan that is heading to the United States, according to WERC, and that several lanes of traffic at the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa ports of entry will be shut down so that special equipment may be installed.
“CBP has been and will continue to prepare for the potential arrival of thousands of people migrating in a caravan heading towards the border of the United States,” Said Director of San Diego field operations for Customs and Border Protection Pete Flores.
WERC is also reporting that the caravan of approximately 5,000 migrants has decided to proceed with their journey to the US Border. It is unknown when they will arrive.
