LEEDS — The St. Clair County Sheriff’s office reported the discovery of a deceased woman at 252 Trails End in Leeds on Monday. The departed female was identified as Barbara Posey, 36, of Leeds.

According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s office, an extensive investigation into the matter was conducted and resulted in St. Clair County investigators issuing an arrest warrant for George Darrell Heath, a 39-year-old white male, of Leeds.
According to authorities, investigators for St. Clair County developed information about the possible whereabouts of the suspect. St. Clair County investigators, along with the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office and the Haralson County Georgia Sheriff’s Office, located the suspect just inside the Alabama state line at mile marker 210. After an attempted traffic stop, the suspect shot himself and died.
