BIRMINGHAM – Alabama State Troopers are advising drivers to use caution while traveling on the interstate and highways this holiday season, according to WIAT.
Authorities are reporting that speeding is the number one cause of crashes and that state troopers have worked over 500 fatal crashes this year in Alabama.
State Troopers will be watching for distracted and impaired drivers, as well as those that are speeding and reckless, and they will be making sure that everyone is using a seat belt, because they don’t want there to be any fatalities.
“They’re husbands and wives and grandparents and children,” Alabama State Trooper Chuck Daniel said. “We’ve had a lot of children killed in crashes. It’s something that troopers see, and we see the devastation that it causes families.”
