PINSON— Pinson Valley takes on Clay-Chalkville this Friday night in the state semifinal matchup in class 6A for a chance to play in Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium for the state championship. Quarterback for the Indians, Bo Nix, also has a chance to become the all-time leader in individual total offense for a career.
The current Alabama High School Athletic Association record is 11,788 yards by former Berry High School’s Terrance Hollingsworth, who completed this feat from 2009-2013. Nix only needs 28 yards to accomplish this individual goal, as he sits at 11,760 in total offense.
Nix has completed 218-of-360 passes for 3,170 yards and 44 touchdowns this season, and is 638-of-1,136 for 9,761 yards for his career. He also has 1,999 rushing yards on 238 carries for his career.
Nix has a chance to become the all-time total touchdown leader in the state’s history, as well. For his career, Nix has accounted for 154 touchdowns, which is six away from the current leader, Wadley High School’s Terrance Wilkes, who totaled 160 touchdowns in his career.
These accomplishments do not seem out of reach. Nix also has a chance to add to the impressive numbers if his team defeats the Cougars this Friday night and lands another appearance in the state championship. Even if he and his team do not advance, to say that his high school career is anything short of legendary would be a complete understatement.
