BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department has reported that funeral arrangements for fallen Birmingham Police Sergeant Wytasha Carter are scheduled for this weekend in Birmingham and Trussville.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 18, from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel located at 1500 Gadsden Highway.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19, beginning at 11 a.m. and will take place at Legacy Arena at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Complex, which is located at 2100 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. North.
Sergeant Carter was fatally wounded in an overnight shooting on Jan. 13 near the Four Seasons Bar and Grill in downtown Birmingham. Another officer was critically wounded.

Carter has served with the Birmingham Police Department since 2011, where he worked various assignments including West Precinct, HICOPP and Youth Services as a school resource officer. Carter was promoted to sergeant in February 2018.
No interment will take place following the funeral service at Legacy Arena. A private family service will take place at a later time.
