ALEA offers a number of online options for driver’s licenses

From The Trussville Tribune staff reports

JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency offers a number of online options for citizens that need state IDs.

According to ALEA, one of these options is for the online renewals of driver’s licenses.  Licensed drivers may choose to renew standard driver licenses, STAR I.D.s or non-driver IDs, or order duplicate licenses or non-driver IDs via Internet when it is most convenient for them. This service is available for those whose address and other personal information hasn’t changed. However, you may renew once during an eight-year period as a new photograph is required every eight years.

ALEA also said that those who renew online and have smart phones may download a digital license to present as a secure form of identification, although online renewal is required for digital license.

A third area of convenience provided by ALEA is that customers may schedule an appointment to ensure a visit to an ALEA driver license examining office is as convenient as possible.
