TRUSSVILLE — Trussville resident and optometrist Dr. Elizabeth Steele has agreed to lend her considerable talents, insights and expertise to Optometric Management magazine.
Optometric Management magazine is the leading practice management resource for optometry and is recognized as the must-read publication for optometrists desirous of improving their practices through a combination of superlative patient care and practice management skills. Each issue of Optometric Management magazine delivers articles with a “how-to” approach on a variety of topics from patient management skills to improving the medical economics of running the practive.
Steele is joining the team as a co-columnist, specializing in the cornea section of the magazine. Steele will share the column with Dr. Josh Johnston. Her first column will debut in the May issue.
“Anterior segment disease can impact vision, ocular comfort and, often, quality of life,” said Steele. “It is rewarding to help patients whose symptoms are improved when we take the time to pinpoint problems, educate/engage the patient and offer effective management.”
Steele practices at UAB Eye Care Clinic, the clinical arm of the University of Alabama (UAB) School of Optometry, in both Primary Care and Ocular Disease Services. After graduating from the UAB School of Optometry in 2003, she joined the faculty and is currently an associate professor and associate dean for Clinical Affairs.
She is a recipient of several teaching awards, including the UAB Scholarship of Teaching Award and the AOA Educator of the Year Award. Steele provides local and national continuing education lectures and workshops and is active in serving the community, as well as the optometric profession.
