MARION, Ind. (WXIN) — Fox 59 in Indianapolis spoke with a man who said he found a body under his antique floor safe in his garage.
Homeowner George Hollingsworth said he was cleaning out his garage after a suspected home break-in. As he approached his safe he noticed it had been knocked over. Upon further inspection, he realized there was a body underneath the 900-pound piece of furniture.
“My mind couldn’t comprehend it,” Hollingsworth told WXIN. “This can’t be real. It’s like some strange tale. I came in and told my wife, ‘I think we’ve got a dead body out there.’ She thought I was kidding.”
Investigators responded to the scene where they determined the dead person was likely an intruder. They said the 28-year-old man was likely crushed as he rummaged through the garage.
