VESTAVIA HILLS — Hewitt-Trussville varsity softball took the win over Vestavia Hills on Thursday by a score of 5-3.
The Huskies got things going in the top of the first when an error committed by Vestavia Hills allowed Hewitt-Trussville to put up their first run.
Vestavia Hills reciprocated in the third when an error allowed the Rebels to put up a run of their own.
This pattern continued until the top of the fourth when the Huskies were able to put some real distance between themselves and the Rebels.
Kaitlyn Hughes pitched seven innings for the Huskies. She gave up three runs, six hits and struck out five.
Arden Plugge had the mound for the Rebels for seven innings. She gave up five runs off of 11 hits and had four strikeouts.
The Huskies had one home run in the fifth inning from Anyce Harvey.
The Huskies put up 11 hits for the game. Team members Kenleigh Cahalan, Maddie Katona and Harvey got multiple hits for Hewitt-Trussville.
