AUBURN – A successful season for Hewitt-Trussville girls’ lacrosse came to an end Tuesday, May 7, in Auburn.
The Huskies took on Auburn in the second round of the playoffs. It was a close, hard-fought game but in the end, the Huskies came up just a little short with Auburn emerging the victor with a score of 13-9.
Brooke Nielson had five goals for the Huskies. Savanah Martin provided two goals for the Huskies. Tana Smith, Ella Wiessgerber and Madison Hutchens each scored one goal for the Huskies.
Auburn took a total of 28 shots, but goalie Liberty Andrzejewski only allowed 13 goals.
“She really had her best game all year,” said head coach Tom McCormick.
The Huskies finish the season 7-7 and are looking forward to building on their momentum in 2020. McCormick said that he expects 18 of the 20 players to return next year.
