BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department sent out a correction after a homicide victim was wrongly identified.
Davi Junior Escalunte’ Ramirez, 20, of Birmingham, was shot and killed on Monday, May 20, 2019. He was first identified as Aaron Alberto Elena, based on the identification he had on his person at the time of his death. After investigating, police found that information was not correct.
Ramirez was found at the corner of Fifth Avenue and First Street South at 1:14 a.m. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
No suspects are in custody.
