BIRMINGHAM — The city of Birmingham announced Fire Station 27 is closed for a facility assessment.
Firefighters have raised concerns about the safety of the building, on Huffman Road. In a statement, the city said, “Health and safety for all employees is a priority.”
The station closed on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, and will remain closed until the assessment is complete. All personnel and equipment have been moved to other stations.
The city said the contingency plan ensures all fire and EMA coverage will remain consistent throughout the process.
