FOX 6 is reporting that police shot and killed a gunman after he wounded another police officer and two hospital employees at St. Vincent’s Hospital in downtown Birmingham.
Sources told The Tribune that a “code silver” was issued by the hospital, indicating an incident with a gun involved was unfolding on the hospital’s 5th floor around 4 am on Saturday morning.
Sgt
. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham police department told FOX 6 that the injuries to the officer and employees were non-life threatening.
Hospital sources told The Tribune that the downtown hospital may still be on lock down this morning.
“Visitors are all being directed to a specific area,” an employee who declined to be identified said. “We’re just taking every precaution, but we don’t believe there is any danger.”
