Former Hewitt-Trussville High School and UNC-Asheville standout Matt Dickey scored nine points in his pro basketball debut Saturday.
Dickey played 20 minutes in the Texas Legends’ 99-92 loss to the Austin Toros on Saturday. Both teams are in the NBA Developmental League.
Dickey was 3-for-7 from the field and made three of his five free throw attempts. He missed both his 3-point attempts. Dickey also had one rebound, collected three steals and turned the ball over three times.
Dickey had a double-figure scoring average all four of his collegiate seasons at UNC-Asheville, averaging a career-high 16.1 points per game his senior year in 2011-2012. He was voted the Big South Conference Player of the Year after last season.
Dickey averaged 18.8 points, six assists and three rebounds per game as a senior at Hewitt-Trussville in 2008.
