Toomer’s Oaks to be rolled for final time at A-Day game
The Opelika-Auburn News is reporting that Auburn University is planning a final rolling of the school’s iconic oaks after the April 20 A-Day game. The rolling will be part of a block party hosted by the school called “Celebrate the Tradition.”
According to the article, Dan King, assistant vice president of facilities at AU, said the trees would likely be removed within a week or two following the game.
King told the newspaper that multiple attempts to save the trees after they were poisoned and set on fire have not succeeded. Harvey Updyke has been indicted for allegedly poisoning the trees and is awaiting trial.
