4 Hewitt-Trussville athletes sign

Four Hewitt-Trussville High School athletes last week signed letters of intent to play sports at the next level.

Casey Dunn signed to play football at Jacksonville State. Dunn, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound offensive lineman, played center and both tackle positions as a senior at Hewitt-Trussville. Dunn started two years as a high school player.

“I’m very excited,” said Dunn, who plans to study engineering or architecture. “I’ve been looking forward to this day for a while.”

Dunn also garnered interest from Delta State, Samford, Birmingham-Southern College, Mercer and Georgia State.

Defensive back Luke Davis will walk on at Ole Miss. Davis had an Alcorn State offer and had drawn interest from Jacksonville State, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Austin Peay.

Daniel Rush signed a cross country scholarship to the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

Girls’ soccer standout Allie Wiggins also signed a soccer scholarship to UAH.
