More rain for Monday, tornado hits Hattiesburg

The National Weather Service in Birmingham is forecasting continued rain through Wednesday morning, as Jefferson County continues under a Flash Flood Watch.

Today: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 56. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Tonight: Showers likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 42. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday: A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. High near 56. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Tuesday Night: Showers. Low around 47. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

The Hattiesburg American is reporting significant damage after a tornado ripped down a main thoroughfare damaging homes and businesses. The system is expected to continue training across Mississippi and Alabama today, tomorrow and Wednesday.
