Clay-Chalkville edges out Oxford for area championship

Clay-Chalkville slipped by Oxford to claim the Class 6A, Area 9 tournament championship Monday night.

Clay-Chalkville survived, 58-57. Tournament MVP Marcus Baldwin scored 19 points.

Cory Judkins and Sean Burrell scored 10 points each for Clay-Chalkville.

Clay-Chalkville will host Grissom on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Northeast Sub-Regional of the state playoffs. Grissom is coached by former Hewitt-Trussville head coach Bo Coln.
