Hewitt-Trussville junior guard Jarvis Calhoun has committed to UAB.
Calhoun committed to the Blazers on Saturday while on his official visit at the game against SMU. Calhoun is the first class of 2014 prospect to make his pledge to UAB.
“I like the coaching staff,” Calhoun said. “They make you feel like you’re at home.”
Calhoun said UAB plays the fast-paced style he likes to play.
“UAB fit me best,” said Calhoun, who will be a combo guard at the next level.
Calhoun has 1,650 career points in his career at Hewitt-Trussville.
Calhoun also had offers from Murray State, Georgia, Georgia State, Tennessee Tech and Samford.
As a junior, the 6-foot-1, 155-pound Calhoun averaged 25 points, three assists and two rebounds per game.
