Living History demos this weekend at Turkey Creek

A Living History demonstration is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve in Pinson.

An 1813 Living History camp will show visitors what life was like for some of the first settlers and industrialists in the state of Alabama. The camp will feature fun and informative activities, including camp cooking, loading/firing flintlock muskets, storytelling, tomahawk throwing and a Native American demonstration garden.

Participants will have the option to go on a guided tour of one of the most historically rich sites in the state, featuring one of the first industrialist settlements of Jefferson County.

Teachers are encouraged to attend and see the camp. Admission for all teachers and their families will be free.

The hours for this weekend’s event are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
