Pinson Valley checks in at No. 9 in first baseball rankings

Pinson Valley is ranked No. 9 in Class 5A in the first Alabama Sports Writers Association baseball poll, released today.

Pinson Valley has a 9-5 record and is 3-0 in the Jefferson County Tournament this week. The Indians travel to Pleasant Grove for a 4:30 p.m. semifinal tournament game today.

Hewitt-Trussville was nominated for top 10 consideration in Class 6A, but checks in at No. 12 with a 7-3 record. The Huskies defeated Class 5A No. 10 Homewood 3-2 on Wednesday night. Homewood was 10-0.

The Hewitt-Trussville softball team is also 7-3 and was ranked No. 15 in the first Class 6A poll.
