Sophomore catcher Taylor Beshears was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and three stolen bases to lead Hewitt-Trussville past rival Clay-Chalkville 6-3 at Goldie Paine Field on Thursday.
Kimberly Mullins earned the win for Hewitt-Trussville (12-3), allowing two runs on nine hits across five innings of relief. She struck out two batters. Callie Shields started the game and went two innings, allowing one run on one hit while striking out two.
Freshman Autumn Brown was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and junior Kristen Bittle was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Junior Kathryn Pace also had an RBI for Hewitt-Trussville.
Senior Nicole Reeves took the loss for Clay-Chalkville, allowing four earned runs on nine hits across six innings. She struck out one batter

Clay-Chalkville threatened in the top of the seventh, hitting four straight singles — one a Reeves single that scored freshman Madison Cole — with two outs.
Clay-Chalkville got an RBI groundout from freshman Cidney Daniels that scored senior Jamecia Patton, and a Reggie Richey double that scored sophomore Katelyn English.
