The groundbreaking for the new Hewitt-Trussville Stadium is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 2:15 p.m.
Trussville Mayor Gene Melton, the Trussville City Council, Trussville City Board of Education and former board of education members will attend the groundbreaking. Also expected to attend the event are the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce members, legislators, Trussville City Schools Foundation members, Hewitt-Trussville Athletic Foundation members, the Hewitt-Trussville football and track teams, cheerleaders and some of the band members.
Trussville City Schools Facilities Coordinator Barry Davis said he’s “pleased” with the work done so far at the stadium site, which has included moving sewer lines. Culvert excavation could begin later this month and be completed by the end of November. Davis said some top soil is being moved to begin work on the visitor’s side of the stadium.
“It’s looking good,” Davis said.
