Roads affected by early storms

There have been multiple reports of damage and debris from this morning’s severe thunderstorms.

Randy Christian, the Chief Deputy for Jefferson County has released a list of problems created by this morning’s storms. Be aware of these issues as you go about your business today.

The biggest concern is a house fire caused by a lightning strike at Nazah Circle Cahaba Heights. The Vestavia Hills Police Department is currently handling that emergency.

The bridge near Alliance Road, Little Cove Way and Tam Salter Road is flooded and breaking apart. Taylor’s Ferry Road on Brandon drive is flooded with debris in the roadway. A car is caught in flooded waters on Pinson Valley Parkway on Main Street. The 7500 block of Old Bradford Road has a tree across the road. Officers are currently responding to a 6-car accident on Carson Road. Another tree is down at the intersection of Tiger Hill Road and Main Street Brookside. The intersection of Sun Valley Road and 4th Street NW is flooded. Yet another tree is down across the road on the 1200 block of Jew Hollow Road. Pocahontas Road and Promenade Parkway has a tree and several power lines down on the road.

Weather.com reports that the slow moving storms dropped up to 3 inches of rain across the Birmingham Metro area in one hour last night. It also reports that more than 3,000 people lost power at the height of the storms.
